Your baby is growing very quickly and sooner or later, you’ll be able to hold them tightly in your arms! But for now, there’s still a lot of growing needed for your baby to be fully developed. As weeks passed, you would notice a lot of changes in your body. This just proves that your baby inside you is developing too! Read below to see how your baby is growing this week!
Mother:
- The discomforts you’ve felt from your first trimester of pregnancy are probably gone by now. You should be able to relax and feel comfortable around this time since your abdomen is still quite small and manageable.
- On this week, aside from being free from previous predicaments, you still have to worry with some minor glitches now. For instance, you may start getting pregnancy stretch marks and you may be producing more oil than usual, which may develop or worsen acne. So it is a good practice to wash your face gently with oil-free products.
- By now, you are also likely to have varicose veins because of the increasing pressure on the veins, specifically on the legs, and higher progesterone levels. Spider veins are also noticeable on the ankles, legs, or face.
- Women can often feel a little stressed out and overwhelmed due to busy lifestyles. If you’re feeling this way, learn how to reduce stress during pregnancy.
Baby:
- Your baby probably weighs ¾ pound and measures 10 ½ inches long by the end of this week.
- They can now taste the foods you’re eating! This is due to the amniotic fluid he swallows each day.
- Their skin has turned to opaque from being translucent due to the growth of their cells. The womb and vagina have now taken their form, if she’s a girl that is.
- By now, your baby’s tongue is now fully developed and is strengthening.
- Your baby has also worked on developing their bones and might be moving right at this moment. Their movements are much more coordinated now.
- Their eyebrows and lids can be seen now.
There’s still more room for development and as weeks goes by, you get nearer and nearer to the day your child will be born. Always remember to keep an eye on your health, maintain a healthy diet and remember what’s safe during pregnancy and what’s not in order to have a healthy and fully-grown baby!
