4-Month Old Milestones:

  • Your baby starts to hold her head high by using her hands as support while lying with her stomach.
  • She starts to play with her hands, reach for near objects, and at times, even put them in her mouth! Be sure to watch your child closely while she’s playing to avoid her from swallowing tiny objects.
  • Babies also start to recognize your voice and your presence. They tend to get scared when other unfamiliar people try to hold or interact with them.
  • They begin to interact with new objects they encounter like the sound of a rattle when stirred or a toy mobile that moves.  Here are some of the most popular baby toys.
  • Feeding also becomes quite interesting. Your baby begins to notice more of his surrounding rather than the food in front of him. So when your baby becomes more distracted more often, try to feed her in a quieter room with less diversion to let her focus more on eating.
  • Some doctors allow moms to feed their child with solid foods. Start by giving her easily digested food such as infant rice cereal. If your baby is able to take hold of it, try increasing the thickness of the cereal.
  • Do not forget to remove your baby’s bottle when she’s gone to sleep. Also try to ask her doctor about diluted juices.
  • Babies also start to drool a lot, but that does not necessarily mean early signs of teething. This may be primarily due to her inability to swallow saliva. Keep watch of her drooling to avoid rashes.

Really, your baby has developed very quickly! Keep watch of your baby’s movement so that you will be able to know if there’s something wrong with her activities. Also, it is important that you visit your doctor frequently to know her developments and diagnose early signs of illness.
