42 Weeks Pregnant – What to Expect

You’ve finally made it! 42 weeks and your baby will be in your arms in no time! True labor or labor induction, he’ll be out whether he likes it or not! Your anxiety and frustrations about your overdue pregnancy is about to end. By this time, you’ve finally make it to the end of your pregnancy cycle, not to mention even past that!  By the end of this week, there should be no reason for not holding your baby!

Mother:

  • If your baby is having no complications inside your womb through tests and checkups, doctors might leave you as it is and wait for labor symptoms to come, hoping for labor to come naturally.
  • However, if your baby’s having complications, your doctor will perform labor induction, depending on the kind of situation you and your baby are in.
  • Prepare for birth now because it’s coming!
  • Once you have your baby, be sure to look out for postpartum depression symptoms, simply because this can occur!  Taking on this new responsibility will wear you out.  So, be sure to ask for help from friends and family whenever they can give it.

The book “The Happiest Baby on The Block” is a must read, especially for first time parents!  You will learn so many great tips for taking care of your baby, nurturing them and calming them when most needed!

Baby:

  • Your baby might be getting pretty impatient by now! He has grown enough and your tummy might be becoming small for him to move around. He’s probably over 8 pounds and measures 20 inches long!
  • Overdue babies are also more likely overweight.
  • His skin might also become dry and flaky.  So once he comes out, lotion that little one up!

If this is your first pregnancy, congratulations! You’ve become a parent! Next up, knowing more about babies should be your next goal! Read good books to help you with your parenting and always observe your babies needs since he’ll only be depending on you!
