The baby in your womb is certainly growing! He or she has gotten bigger than last week. You will have to wait for a long time though since there’s still a long journey ahead. Though only a week has passed, there are already a lot of changes from your developing baby and your body. Find out then about these developments and what to expect from them!
Mother:
- On this stage, it is common that you’ll have mood swings — feeling moody today but pleasant the next. This is due to the fluctuating hormones inside the body and that there are lots of changes about your life.
- During this stage, spotting and bleeding is also common but sometimes, it is a sign of miscarriage. Always consult with a doctor if ever you feel something may be wrong.
- Expecting mothers may experience weight gain starting this week. If you have the question, how much weight will I gain during pregnancy?, find out here!
- You may also notice your waist becoming thicker, especially if this is not your first pregnancy.
- You may experience morning sickness by 6 weeks pregnant. Learn how to reduce morning sickness here.
Baby:
- This should be the time where the nose, mouth and ears are beginning to show.
- The baby’s eyes and nostrils will start to take their form.
- The heart will start beating at a rate almost twice ours!
- Intestines will start to develop and lungs will start to show up.
- The pituitary gland starts to take its form, and the rest of the brain, muscles and bones.
- At this stage, your baby is fast developing and is now a quarter of an inch long.
There’s still a long way to go and there are still a lot of things to learn about being pregnant and what to expect during these stages. You should know your body better, and you should also take better care of it now more than ever.
