9 Month Old Milestones:

Crawling and Creeping:  Your baby might begin to know how to crawl and creep. You might want to keep an eye on her as she might try to explore around the house, touch furniture, and pull up things.  A baby gate is much needed at this time!

Recognizing:  She will start to recognize her own name and respond to it when being called. She also begins to recognize certain concepts such as getting a toy when she sees you hid it under a table or a blanket. She also begins to distinguish between strangers and family members. She starts to become frightened with people she interacts with less.

Playing:  She may begin to play with toys, banging them needlessly. She can also play interactive games at this age such as peek-a-boo.
Talking:  She may be able to say certain words such as “mama” or “papa” but not specifically. She can be able to distinguish and utter these words slowly when you continually teach them. She may already have a tooth or two on the bottom.

Less Supervision:  She can now use her fingers and thumb to poke, pry, probe, and pick up smaller objects. This is probably one of her greatest development at this age. She can also sit well with less supervision needed too! She can now also sleep well through the night, but there are times when she’d be awakened.

There sure are a lot of developments happening in your baby! A few months to go and she’ll have her first birthday pretty soon! Make sure to contact your doctor if ever you find something troubling about your baby. It’s always reassuring if you ask experts about it.
