1206248_strawberriesBreastfeeding is a great thing for not only your baby, but for you as well.  The feeling we get when we bond with our little one, the happiness we have when we know that we are giving everything our baby needs to grow up strong, and the feeling of saving all that money by not buying formula are all great reasons to do it!  Breastfeeding moms may wonder to how to maintain or eat a healthy diet when breastfeeding, if you’re one of them, continue to read below!

Variety -  First of all, it is always a good idea to eat a wide variety of different foods.  Too much of one thing is never good.  So, open up, eat what you want (healthy choices are better of course), and give yourself a good amount of different foods to choose from.

Limit yourself -  Even when you’re not breastfeeding and taking care of your little one you should limit yourself to the bad foods you’re eating.  Try to go with natural foods as much as possible, and limit yourself from the junk food.

Vitamins -  We all know how important it is to get our vitamins and minerals.  Take a vitamin everyday, and really take advantage of the nutrients in fruits and vegetables.  Eat salads, make a fruit salad, and go crazy on the produce!  Not only is this great for your little ones health, but yours as well.  Not to mention, if you’re looking to shed a few of those extra baby pounds, this is a great way to do it!

Fluids -  Also, it is very important to fill our bodies with fluids.  The best choice is water of course, but even healthy fruit juices help keep us hydrated, and allow us to sneak in even more nutrients!

Knock out the bad -  Certain things like smoking, and alcohol always come up when you’re breastfeeding. If you’re wondering, smoking should never be done.  Just the scent that is on our bodies while our baby is breastfeeding isn’t good.  Although when it comes to alcohol you can, but it’s more of a shouldn’t.  Alcohol will come up in the breast milk, but if you have maybe one drink, it won’t be as bad.  Although remember, it’s more of a you can but shouldn’t.

Maintaining a healthy diet while breastfeeding is very important.  Your little one is relying on you to give you everything they and you need.  So, take care of yourself, and consider a few of these tips to get you on the right track!
