1154950_one_week_old_babyIf we’re a parent for the first time, there is a lot to learn.  We’re eager to learn, but there is so much to get filled in out since we’ve never had a child of our own before.  A good place to start is to be prepared with all the items they’ll need.  There is no safe date to say your baby will come, so it’s best to be prepared if they come a little earlier than planned.

There are a lot of baby items you and your baby will need, but which ones are the most important during their first 6 weeks?

Feeding:

  • Breast pumps – If you plan on breastfeeding, these are essential.
  • Nipple cream – Sometimes our nipples can become cracked and dry due to breastfeeding.  Prevent and treat with nipple cream.
  • Nursing pillow – A nursing pillow makes breastfeeding your baby much easier and much more comfortable for them.
  • Bibs – Instead of having them wear what they eat, a bib can be a quick fix.
  • Formula – If you’re not breastfeeding, formula is what they will need.
  • Bottles and nipples – Be sure to have plenty of these by your side.  You will be surprised at how quick it is to dirty all of them up.

Diapers:

  • Diapers – You will need plenty of these!
  • Changing table – This makes diaper changing much more convenient.
  • Diaper bag – This makes carrying all the important belongings with you much easier.
  • Baby wipes – Keep your baby clean between diaper changes!
