Benefits of Making Baby Food Yourself

We all know how costly it can be to have a baby.  Between the cost of diapers, wipes, new clothes every few months and all the start up supplies they need, we can easily spend hundreds if not thousands.  Therefore as a mother, I try to find any way possible to get more for my money and to do what’s best for the sake of my baby.

I truly believe that making your own baby food has several benefits.  So, before you buy the baby food that has a shelf life of over two years, you may want to consider the many benefits of making baby food at home.

Benefits of Making Baby Food Yourself:

  • First of all, as I stated above, having a baby is very expensive, and so are those little jars that cost a buck each!  Making your own baby food will save you lots of money over time.
  • Although everything on the shelf has to be passed by the FDA, doesn’t it make you wonder how baby food can be good for over 2 years when the life of produce is typically a week?  Making baby food is natural and doesn’t have anything in it to preserve it.
  • When you make your own baby food, you will know exactly what you’re putting in it and where it came from – that’s a good feeling.
  • If you’ve run out of baby food, you can simply put an apple in a food processor and serve it.  You won’t need to run up to the store to get more.
  • You can also mix up what you’re making.  If you’ve got a lot of apples and bananas that will go bad soon, you can throw those in for your baby’s lunch.
  • Lastly, you can feel good about taking the time to make sure your baby gets the best that’s out there.

Making baby food at home can be a lot of fun.  Not to mention, if you make smoothies everyday for yourself, you can just give your baby some of what you’re drinking.
