When we’re pregnant, we often go in overdrive looking for a baby name.  We discuss different names with our significant other, play around trying to create a middle name, and consider baby name books for help.  Although there are several great baby names to choose from in a book, you may want to consider a few of these tips as well when looking for a baby name. 

Name after – If someone in your life means a lot to you, you may want to consider naming your baby after them.  This is very popular, especially the dad’s name.  So, if you’re inspired by someone, you may want to consider their name for your babies name.

First instinct – We often have a name that has been in our head for a while.  Maybe ever since we were little, or we just recently heard it, and can’t get it out of our head, you may want to consider that name.  It’s obviously sticking with you.

Meaning – Also, people like to name their baby after a certain meaning.  Is there something that means a lot to you, or you want your baby name to have a special meaning?  If so, there are several books that display what a babies name means.

20 names – You should sit down with your significant other, and write down 10 names you both like.  One side can be for your names, and one side can be for theirs.   Then pick out your top five, and even try to mix them using middle names.  You may both be surprised with what you come up with.  This is a win win situation because you could find the name, while your partner creates the middle name.
