Answer:  Yes, it is true that child car seats will eventually expire just like most things.  Although they are safe when you buy them and until a couple years of use, they will end up expiring.  It is very important to take a look at the date and keep that in mind.  With how technology changes over the years, it is important to keep up with it.

Technology changes to better a product, and we always want what is best for our little one, especially when it comes to their safety.  So for your safety and your child’s make sure you take a look at the date on the car seat.  It should be printed somewhere on the bottom or on the side.  This is also important to think about if you were planning on using the same car seat for your children down the road.  If it is expired, it is recommended that you do not use it any longer.

NOTE:  It is also important to never buy a car seat used!  Even if it was at a garage sale or passed down, you never know the history behind it, if it really works or if it’s been in an accident.  Always make sure you play things on the safe side and that you look for expiration dates and make sure you buy a car seat new!
