Ectopic Pregnancy Symptoms

Upon knowing that you’re pregnant, you’d probably hope for a healthy pregnancy so that you can of course have a healthy baby. Unfortunately there are times when we get anxious about our health, and sometimes feel there may be something wrong.

What is an eptopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy is a type of pregnancy where complications occur.  Typically your baby grows inside the uterus, but in an ectopic pregnancy it grows outside it.  This usually happens because there is a blockage which then slows the movement of the fertilized egg through the fallopian tube or uterus. 

This may be dangerous to the mother. It may feel like a normal pregnancy at first, but as the pregnancy progresses, frequent pain may be experienced. This is a dangerous and serious case, so you every mother needs to be aware of it. If it is not treated properly, it may lead to death.

What are the early signs and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy?

In the early stage of an ectopic pregnancy, you may feel the common signs of pregnancy like fatigue, nausea, an increase in urination, tendering of the breasts, and a missed menstrual period.

As time passes, you may then experience vaginal bleeding which may be light or heavy, as well as shoulder pain. You may also experience pelvic pain which will most likely last 6-8 weeks after a missed menstrual period. Too much flexing in your muscles may increase the pain. You may also feel pain during intercourse. Pain may also be present during a pelvic exam. Sharp abdominal cramps are also a common symptom.
