6 Month Old Feeding Schedule

Is your baby 6 months already?  If so, only 6 months more until their 1st birthday!  How crazy is that?  Since your little one continues to grow and develop, their schedule will continue to change.  They should also be done with waking up in the middle of the night for feedings! Hooray!  Not sure how often your baby should be eating?  Take a look at this sample schedule for a 6 month old.

Feeding Schedule for a 6 Month Old:

8 a.m.:  Good morning!  Your baby is up and ready to have breakfast.  A bottle that’s 6-8 ounces should do.

10:30 a.m.:  They are now getting ready for their afternoon nap and are ready for a bottle.

1:30 p.m.:  After waking up from their nap, they are more than ready for some lunch.  This is usually a bottle with 4-6 ounces, along with a small container of baby food.

5 p.m.:  Time for their last nap of the day and a bottle for dinner.

7 p.m.:  After waking up from their nap they are usually pretty hungry, another bottle will be given.

9 p.m.:  This is their last bottle of the day being anywhere from 6-8 ounces.

A baby feeding schedule for a 6 month old is pretty easy to grasp.  As they reach about 9 months of age they will start having baby food 2-3 times a day!  That means less bottles and the closer they are to eating what you’re eating.

I highly recommend making your baby’s food since it is very easy to do, allows you to know what exactly is in it and it is also way cheaper.  To start making your baby’s food from home, here are some great baby food cookbooks to consider.

As always, your baby will usually need about 2.5 ounces per pound that they weigh.  For example, if your baby is 15 lbs, they will typically need about 35-37 ounces each day to feel satisfied.  Give or take a few ounces because of the baby food that you’re giving them.
