Do you live in the beautiful state of Georgia? If so, do you know your state’s car seat laws? If not, it is crucial that you know this information. Your child’s safety depends on it and so does your record. If you don’t follow the laws, you are not only endangering your child, but you’ll also get a traffic violation, and fines.
Car seat laws vary from state to state, so it’s important that you know the car seat laws for the state you live in.
Georgia Car Seat Laws:
- Your child must remain in a car seat until they’re at least 5 years old and 57″.
- They must also wear a seat belt if they are 57″ or less.
- Children have to sit in the back seat (if it’s available), if they are 5 years or younger.
NOTES:
- It is always a good idea to keep your baby rear-facing until they meet both one year of age AND 20 lbs. This allows their neck time to develop and hold up their head easier.
- Always keep an eye on your child’s car seat to make sure it fits both their height and weight requirements. If they have outgrown their current one, they must upgrade to the next seat.
- Children should always wear a safety belt regardless of their age, due to that fact that it is for additional safety.
- You should never buy a car seat that is “used”. You don’t know the history, if it’s been in an accident, or if it’s been recalled.
