How Can I Get my Baby to Nap for Longer?

Wouldn’t it be nice if our baby slept through an entire night?  That may not be possible now, but eventually it will be.  When it does, we both can get a great night’s sleep.  In the meantime, we let our babies take naps, and sometimes the longer the better, but it’s not predictable for how long they’re going to sleep.  Although, if you’re looking to get your baby to nap for longer time periods, it is possible!  Continue reading below to see how you can make it happen!

Routine – First of all, you want to make sure your baby’s routine is good.  If you can, consider feeding them, bathing, and rocking them before their nap.  They will be sound asleep, and will most likely take a longer nap, than if you just laid them down.

Patterns – Also, take a look at their sleeping patterns.  If you’re trying to make them fall asleep at a time they usually don’t, they won’t sleep for long.  Also, you want to make sure they’re not over tired, but instead tired enough to nap.

Atmosphere – For anyone to get a good nap in, the temperature must be right, it must be dark, and the room must be quiet.  Make sure all of these things are just right, or they won’t be able to sleep for very long, and if they do, they won’t be very comfortable.

Less and longer – How many naps are you currently giving your baby?  If you’re giving them 3, you may want to cut back to 2 so they have less and longer naps.  The less naps you have the longer each nap will be.

Getting your baby to nap for a longer amount of time may seem impossible, but it’s rather easy.  Consider a few of these tips, and make sure the atmosphere is just right.  Not to mention, make sure you get them relaxed, and ready to sleep!
