As a parent, we want what is best for our little one. We want to make sure they eat a good diet, and are getting enough sleep to grow up big and strong. Some babies seem to have different sleeping patterns, and require more than others. Although, how do you know how much sleep your baby needs? What is normal for your baby, and how much sleep should they get? If you’re asking yourself this question, be sure to consider reading below to find out the answers to your questions!
| Age | During the Day | At Night | Total Hours |
| 1 Month | 7 Hours | 8 Hours | 15 Hours |
| 3 Months | 5 Hours | 10 Hours | 15 Hours |
| 6 Months | 3 Hours | 11 Hours | 14 Hours |
| 9 Months | 3 Hours | 11 Hours | 14 Hours |
| 12 Months | 2 Hours | 11 Hours | 13 Hours |
| 18 Months | 2 Hours | 11 Hours | 13 Hours |
| 2 Years | 1 Hour | 10 Hours | 11 Hours |
As you can see from above, your baby will need a lot of sleep. So, if it seems like your baby is just sleeping the day away, that is normal, and you should definitely let them continue with that routine. Sleep is something we all need to let our bodies and minds rest from a long, and busy day. Not to mention, our little ones are still growing slowly, and need that time to develop.
From the hours listed above, there will be a lot of nap taking. Our babies won’t sleep all the way through of course. They will wake up, want to be held for a while, and will fall right back asleep. So, figure in a few naps in between that time.
So for now, check out where your little one is depending on their age group. Some babies will sleep more than others, and some will have a lot more energy. It all depends on what they do throughout the day, how old they are, and how tired they are. So leave a little bit of flex for the hours.
