When our little one gets a little older to where they can walk around by themselves, it is a good idea to start baby proofing your home. You want to make sure your baby is safe at all times, and that those little fingers aren’t in places where they shouldn’t be. Every parent should take this into consideration, to prevent anything we wouldn’t want to happen, from happening. Now, what can you start doing today? Continue reading below to find out!
Outlets – First of all, you’re going to want to cover each individual outlet with outlet covers. Putting an outlet cover on each one can make sure that your baby doesn’t stick their little fingers in the holes. That could be extremely dangerous, so make sure you take care of that.
Cupboards – Also, I’m sure you’re little one would walk in the kitchen, open up a cupboard, and walk/crawl right in if they could. Make sure you put those hard to open cupboard locks on them. That way when they go to open it, it doesn’t open unless you push down on the tab.
Gates – Be sure to put baby gates around anything that is dangerous for them. For example, put a gate up so they don’t fall down the stairs, in front of the fireplace, etc. Any place that could make them fall down, or place that is too dangerous, put up the gate to block them from it.
Household supplies – Also, household supplies are another thing to be extremely cautious about it. Any cleaners, and sprays that could be poisonous need to be locked up, and higher up so your child can’t get into them.
Sharp objects – Sharp objects are another thing to be extremely cautious about. Anything like scissors, knives, etc need to be put away as well!
As you can see, there are quite a few things to look our for. We want to make sure that if we leave our little one unattended for a few minutes while we answer the phone, empty the dishwasher, etc that they will be okay, safe, and out of things they shouldn’t be in. So, if you make caution of these items, and see any other things to prepare for, make sure you take action!
