1010147_money_glassWhen it comes to our little one’s safety, we don’t want to be cheap, yet we don’t want to overpay.  There are several different car seats on the market that are hundreds of dollars, but really, what is the difference between them all?

Yes, there are some car seats that are just made better, and have better features, but there are also car seats that may be just as good for a cheaper price.  To start the search for an affordable yet well put together car seat, continue reading below.

First of all, where should you buy?

There are several different places you can buy car seats.  Although, it is known that you can find better deals online.  I do almost all of my shopping online simply because it’s cheaper.

For your car seat consider checking out findmycarseat.com.  This website is dedicated to car seats, and is great for finding good deals on just about anything baby related!

What to buy?

There are several things to consider when buying a car seat.  First of which is what size child would it be for.  Obviously, you would not buy a booster seat for a new born.  Second of all, is the choice of what type of restraint is used.  For example, if I was buying one for a new born, I prefer one that has what I call a 4-point harness.  What I mean is that it has 2 straps that not only buckle together at point between the legs but has an adjustable strap that would buckle somewhere around the upper part of the chest.

Finding other uses to save money

There are a lot of seats out there that you could buy that have multiple functions that could end up saving you a lot of money.  For example, there are car seats out there for toddlers that you not only could you use them as a car seat but also as a baby carrier that, with some models, can also attach to a stroller.  Also, with a lot of seats that are designed for older toddlers, you can remove the harness straps and use the seat belt in the car when they get too big for the straps.

Once you find a good car seat, you’re pretty much set for awhile.  Buy a good car seat the first time around so that you don’t have to put more money into a car seat down the road!
