If you weren’t planning on getting pregnant, have to quit your job because you’re pregnant, or you were already depressed before you got pregnant, these are all reasons for depression to kick in. Talk to your doctor – First of all, you may want to talk to your doctor right away and make an appointment. Maybe they can recommend a medicine that is okay to take while you’re pregnant. Or, maybe they can recommend what to do and/or give you exercises that will help cure your stress.
Friends and family – There is nothing better than talking to your friends and family when you’re stressed out. Depression affects millions of people, so don’t feel like you can’t talk about it because “you’re the only one”. Open up to them, and see what advice they can give you. Sometimes just venting will make you feel better!
What makes you happy – If you’re feeling down in the dumps do what makes you happy. Go see a movie, go for a walk, sit in the sun, read a book, etc. Make time for the things that make you happy. A lot of people that are depressed don’t want to make the step to do their hobbies, be the one to do it! Don’t let depression take over your life.
Diet/exercise – You always want to make sure you diet and exercise. This is something that is recommend to everyone. We need certain vitamins and minerals to make us feel good, and to allow our body to function properly. Not to mention, we want to make our bodies strong and healthy!
Rest – When you’re pregnant you need even more sleep than the average person. You’re now sleeping for two people. So, if you feel tired, go to bed! Get plenty of rest. It’s not a good feeling to feel tired, so wake up happy and well rested.
Taking care of yourself is a very important thing to do not only when you’re pregnant but when you’re not pregnant as well!
