How to Find the Right Car Seat

Once we know that we’re pregnant, we usually start planning right away.  We familiarize ourselves with what items we need to buy, and learn how to prepare for our little one ahead of time.  One thing that we need to buy once we have a baby coming is a car seat.  There are several different car seats to choose from, so to make sure they you choose one that works best for you and your baby, consider a few of these tips.

How to Find the Right Car Seat:

Weight and height -  First of all, you want to find a car seat that is made for your child’s weight and height.  Therefore, you will want to find out whether you need an infant car seat (which babies use), a convertible car seat, or a booster car seat.  Once you figure this out, make sure the weight and height is okay for your child.

Comfortable – You also want your little one to be comfortable when riding in the car.  So, find one that has a lot of padding, and one with nice features.  Sometimes you will find a head rest, body pillow, etc.

Safety – Safety is something very important to consider!  We get a car seat so that our child is safe when they ride in the car, so if the car seat doesn’t have good safety ratings we’re defeating the whole purpose!

Easy to install – If you didn’t know already, it is said that 85% of car seats are installed improperly in some way.  So, try to find one right off the bat that is easier to install.  If you can do this, you will increase your chances of it being installed correctly.

Affordable – You also want to find one that is in your price range.  If you visit findmycarseat.com you can actually sort by price ranges on all different car seats to find one that you’re comfortable with.

Happy – Car seats aren’t always cheap, so you want to make sure you and your child would be happy with it.  It is also a good idea to check the reviews of what other parents have had to say about the car seat.

Finding the right car seat isn’t always easy to do, especially if you’re buying your first one.  So if you can, consider a few of these things when buying your little one’s car seat in the future!
