1185019_five_fingers_and_five_toesWhen we’re finally coming close to give birth, we’re excited, yet kind of scared at the first time, especially if it’s our first baby.  Although it may seem a little scary, it will be done before you know it!  If you’re looking to prepare for your birth as much as possible, there are plenty of ways to do it.  Continue reading below to make sure you’re really ready for the trip to the hospital.

Inform – First of all, you want to inform yourself as much as possible when it comes to being in labor.  You want to know what your body is telling you, along with ways to help yourself through the process.  Consider taking a class to learn everything you need to know.  Inform yourself about everything from labor positions, to how to manage your breathing.

Pick someone – Choose someone to be by your side along this whole way.  Whether it’s your significant other, best friend, mom, etc pick someone that can coach you all the way through this.  They will be there for your before your birth, and while it’s happening.

Medicine – Make sure you know ahead of time what kind of medications you want.  Maybe you don’t want any, or maybe you want an epidural or an anesthetic.  Research a couple different medications you can be on.

Pack up – You never know when your little one wants to arrive.  It could be at 1 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, it’s always unexpected.  So, be prepared.  Pack your hospital bag.  Bring along with you your slippers, maybe your robe, a pair of clothes you can wear to bring the baby home in, etc.  Pack whatever would make you happy, and what you think you might need.

NOTE:  Always make sure you have a car seat properly installed so you can take your baby home.  This should be done beforehand, so you can take them home safely.

Preparing for birth isn’t hard as long as you have a positive attitude.  Do what you can to prepare yourself, consider a few of these tips, and walk in with a positive attitude.  Another thing that is important is to expect the unexpected.  We never know how long it’s going to take, how it’s going to be done, etc.  So, get ready, and good luck!
