If our babies could know the difference between night and day, our lives would be so much easier. We could get more done during the day, and get a lot more sleep throughout the night. Although it may be difficult at first, we can get our babies to see the difference eventually. If you’re struggling with this problem, you may want to consider a few of these tips below!
During the day – First of all, during the day it’s light outside, sunny, and there is a lot more going on. We are going in and out of the house, going shopping, playing with our little ones, etc. Let your baby get a feel for this. They can see how busy during the day is. They will realize that when it’s light outside there is much more going on. They will eventually learn that they can play during the day, they will eat more, and you will talk to them a lot more.
At night time – At night make sure you do the exact opposite. It will be getting dark so slow down on doing stuff around the house, and try to be calm and quiet. This means simply watching TV with the lights dims for example. Your baby will realize that when it gets darker outside, there is less going on, and that it isn’t play time right now. Try to pay less attention to them by talking less, playing less, and feeding them less. Make night time a lot more relaxing and laid back than during the day.
By making the two times of day complete opposite, your baby will realize the difference fairly quick. Once they do, they will be more tired at night, sleep better at night, and have more energy during the day. It is important that you show them the difference, otherwise they will awake during the night, and exhausted when you want to play with them during the day! It may take some time, but consider a few of these ideas, and your baby will be able to distinguish from night and day in no time!
