How to Save Money on Diapers

When we have a baby, we realize how expensive they really are.  There was no doubt it wouldn’t be, but it may be even more expensive than we thought.  Since the economy is hurting right now, and since baby items tend to be more on the expensive side, we need to make sure we are saving as much money as we can!

If you’re looking to save money on diapers starting today, there is hope!  Diapers are something we hate buying because they’re so expensive, but if we can save a few bucks on them here and there, they won’t be that bad.

Simple Ways to Save:

Coupons:  First of all, like anything, we want to make sure we use coupons.  If you get the Sunday paper, make sure you clip coupons.  There are always coupons for saving money on diapers!  This each week will save you a few bucks, and believe me it will add up!

  • TIP: If you can’t seem to come across any diaper coupons, check out websites such as eBay and look for people that sell their coupons.  This may sound silly, but if you buy a coupon for .10, and it’s worth $3.00, it’s a no brainer!  You can also find coupons in Parent’s magazine for Diapers.com, as well as coupons for Amazon sometimes.  Look around, ask friends if they have any extras, and be sure to check online if you can’t come across them yourself!

Sale: Also, you want to make sure you only buy diapers when they’re on sale.  So, when they are on sale, stock up if you don’t think they will be the next week.  Each time we don’t buy them on sale, that’s money we’re throwing down the drain.  That adds up quickly, doesn’t it?

Different kinds: As you may already know, there are several different kinds of diapers.  Not only do I mean brands, but also material types like cloth diapers.  Find what works best for you, what is more affordable, and what will save you more money in the long run.

  • Something to consider: Cloth diapers may seems gross, but if you get in the habit of washing them daily, think of how much money you’ll save!  Not to mention, it isn’t uncommon for a baby to go through at least 6 diapers a day, so times that by 365, and now you’ve got at least 2,100+ diapers filling the landfills each year!

Price compare:  You want to make sure you not only price compare different brands, but also the different stores that sell them.  Each stores sells them for a different price, so make sure you get the best deal each time.

Bulk:  When you buy them in bulk, usually the price will be much cheaper.  So definitely consider it.  Places that people tend to like buying them are from Amazon, and stores like Costco.  Amazon has great deals on everything, and this may just be the way to go!

Buying diapers doesn’t have to be a pain anymore if you shop smart.  Consider a few of these different strategies, see what way works best for you, and start saving money today!
