Like all the states in the U.S., Idaho has certain car seat laws that parents must follow.  These laws may be different from other states, therefore if you live in Idaho, you must follow the laws for Idaho.  Don’t know them already?  Not a problem!

When you know the car seat laws for the state you live in, you avoid the risks of endangering your child during every car ride, getting points on your record due to traffic violations, and you even avoid getting a fine, which can sometimes be costly.  So, if you live in Idaho, here are the car seat laws you must familiarize yourself with.

Idaho Car Seat Laws:

• If your child is 6 years or younger, they must remain in a car seat.
• If you fail to follow that law, it may result in a fine of up to $100 for the first offense.

NOTES:

• Always making sure that your child fits in their car seat properly is important.  Children grow up very quickly, so you must make sure they meet the recommendations for height and weight.
• Never buy a car seat that is used.  Recalls, expiration dates, and even a history of accidents could result in a dangerous car ride.
• Keep your baby rear-facing for as long as possible.  This additional time will allow your baby’s neck to develop.
• It has been said that 3/4 car seats have been installed improperly in some way.  To avoid having this be you, take your car seat to a local fire station or police department to get it looked over if you feel it’s not installed correctly.
