Important Nutrients Your Toddler Needs


1059976_clementine_bowlWe all want to make sure our little ones grow up strong and healthy.  Although, for that to happen, we need to make sure they eat a well balanced diet and get the recommended amounts of rest each day.  There are a few vitamins and minerals out there that are key for a baby to grow up healthier.  If you’re looking to take total care of their nutrition, make sure you include these important nutrients in their diet!

Calcium – We all know how important Calcium is to our body!  Even us parents really need to make sure we get the recommended amounts each day.  Calcium is required by our bodies for many reasons.  It helps with muscle contraction, secretion of hormones and enzymes, blood vessel expansion and contraction, and helps transmit impulses throughout our nervous system.  Not to mention, this is the best thing for our bones and teeth!

Zinc – Zinc is also important to our bodies.  It helps with protein synthesis, wound healing, cell division, helps the immune system, and also helps support a healthy growth and development.  This is why it’s important for our little ones to get enough each day.

Iron – Without Iron, we may feel a little tired and have a lower immunity.  It is also important because it helps deliver oxygen throughout our blood and to our muscles.

Vitamin A – Start eating those carrots!  Vitamin A is a very important vitamin.  It helps with our vision, bone growth, cell division, our immune system, and helps our white blood cells out to allow them to continue fighting bacteria and viruses.

Vitamin C – If you’re looking to really boost your immune system, make sure you get enough vitamin C.  Children are always getting sick, but if we can help them build up their immune system, we can start seeing less of that!

Vitamin D – Without vitamin D, our bodies have a harder time absorbing calcium.  If our bodies can’t absorb calcium, our bones will suffer and become thin and brittle.  Babies need strong and healthy bones to grow up healthy!

There are several vitamins and minerals out there that are important for everyday life.  You should be getting them everyday.  Although, when it comes to our toddlers these are the most important.  Without these nutrients, our toddlers won’t grow up as strong and healthy.  These are essential to healthy development!
