Is Abdominal Cramping Normal During Pregnancy?

Once we find out we’re pregnant the time is very exciting, yet a little overwhelming.  We’re getting used to how our body changes, are starting to plan for our little one to come, and we’re looking for tips on how to stay healthy.  The majority of women have the same pregnancy symptoms, but the severity of them is different for everyone.  Some women don’t even know they’re pregnant, question if they still are, and some are overwhelmed with morning sickness and other symptoms.

One question you may be having is whether or not abdominal cramping is normal.  The answer to that is yes.  Your body goes through several changes, expands and your uterus gets larger which can cause a feeling of cramping.  What confuses women the most is that if their symptoms are normal.  We want to make sure we are having a healthy development, and to make sure of that we need to understand what some of the symptoms are.  So, lets take a look at the other symptoms you may be experiencing.

Common pregnancy symptoms:

  • Missed period
  • Abdominal cramping
  • “The pregnancy feeling”
  • Frequent urination (this is due to the uterus pushing on the bladder.)

As you can see, there are quite a few different symptoms you may be experiencing.  You may feel all of them, or maybe not even one, it’s different for everyone.  Although, to make sure you’re having a safe and healthy pregnancy, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment with your OB/GYN once you find out you’re pregnant.  From there you can ask any questions you might have.
