If you live in the state of Missouri, it is important that you know Missouri’s car seat laws.  Since all states vary in the U.S. it is important that you take the time to familiarize yourself with your exact state’s car seat laws.

If you don’t follow the car seat laws for your state, you’re putting your child in danger while riding in the car, risking your chance for a traffic violation, and are just asking for fines to pay.  So, to make things easier, and to avoid all the negative situations, take a look at Missouri’s car seat laws below.

Missouri Car Seat Laws:

• Your child must remain in a car seat until they’re at least 3 years and 40 lbs.
• They must also remain in a booster seat between the ages of 4-7 and until they’ve reached 80 lbs and are 4’9″.
• If your child is older than 7 years, but weighs less than 80 lbs and is shorter than 4’9″, they must at least wear an adult safety belt.

NOTES:

• It is always a good idea to keep your baby in the rear-facing position until they’ve reached both one year of age and 20 lbs.  This time will allow their neck time to develop so that it results in less of an injury.
• You should never buy a car seat that was previously owned.  You don’t know if it’s been in an accident, if it’s been recalled, or if it’s expired.  That is just too dangerous of a situation.
• If your child has exceeded their weight and height requirements for a car seat, you should upgrade them to the next level as soon as possible.
