Nebraska Car Seat Laws

There are several laws that each state requires, and when you’re a parent, it’s important that you follow them to show a good example to your child, but also to protect your child sometimes.

Car seat laws are enforced by each state in the U.S.  They are also different for each state, therefore it’s important that you follow the laws for the actual state you live in.  So, if you live in the state of Nebraska, we’ll make it easy for you.  Here are the laws you specifically have to follow due to your state.

Nebraska Car Seat Laws:

  • If your child is 5 years or younger, the must be strapped in a child car seat.
  • An adult safety belt is also permissible through the ages of 6-17.
  • Parents or legal guardians who do not follow these laws may end up with a fine of $25 for the first offense.

NOTES:

  • As always, it’s best that your child and you, wear your seat belt whenever riding in the car, regardless of your age.
  • Never buy a car seat that has been used.  They may be cheaper in price, but your child’s safety should never be compromised.
  • Once your child has outgrown their car seat, you must upgrade them to the next level.
  • It’s best you keep your baby in the rear-facing position until your pediatrician gives you the OK for forward-facing.
