Oregon Car Seat Laws:
- If your baby isn’t both 1 year of age AND 20 lbs, they have to be in ther rear-facing position. Until they meet both of those requirements, and they get the approval from their pediatrician, they can’t be foward-facing.
- Also, if your child is 7 years or younger, and weighs less than 40 lbs, they must be in a child car seat.
- If your child is more than 40 pounds, but 4 feet and 9 inches or less, they must be in a safety restraint that elevates them so that an adult seat belt fits properly.
- Until they are both taller than 4’9″, and are older than 15 years of age, they must wear a seat belt.
- If you fail to follow these laws, it may result in a fine of $90 for the first offense.
