Do you live in the state of Pennsylvania? If so, do you know your state’s car seat laws? If you didn’t know already, car seat laws vary from state to state, therefore it’s important to know your actual state’s laws.
Why is it important to know your state’s laws? When you do know them, you reduce your risk of getting a traffic violation, can avoid getting fines, and you can also help protect your children when they’re riding in the car.
Pennsylvania Car Seat Laws:
- Your child must remain in a car seat until they are 7 years or older.
- If you don’t follow that law, you may receive a fine for up to $100.
NOTES:
- To enhance the safety of your baby, you should always keep them rear-facing until they’ve reached both one year old and 20 lbs. Giving this extra time allows their neck time to develop.
- Never buy a car seat that was used by someone else. Since you don’t know if it’s been recalled, if it’s expired or if it’s been in an accident, it’s never a good idea to buy used. Always buy new, this is important for your child’s safety.
- Once your child has exceeded the weight and height limits for their seat, it is very important that you upgrade them to the next level.
Pennsylvania, compared to other states doesn’t have very many car seat laws. So, it should be rather easy for you to follow this law. If you have more questions, feel free to drop us an e-mail at: admin[at]findmycarseat[dot]com. We also have several FAQ on car seats on our site.
