Possible Reasons for Infant Vomiting

There are times when babies become sickly and start vomiting. We all want our babies to be healthy and it becomes very unsettling if we see them vomiting. There are actually a lot of reasons why babies vomit. A few of them are listed below. Try reading below and it might help you know what’s troubling your baby.  Just first make sure you understand the difference between vomiting and spitting up a little bit.

Undeveloped valve:

The baby’s valve is responsible for holding the liquid or solid foods inside the stomach to prevent it from coming back up. Since the baby’s valve has not developed fully, it might be a little harder for food to be pushed inside, resulting to vomiting.  This is usually noticed by someone at the hospital though with their first couple times eating.

Baby overeating:

Babies are still very young and they are still not used to their systems. Because of this, they are more likely to overeat and have indigestion problems and thus result to vomiting.

Receiving breast or formula milk too quickly:

Aggressive babies during nursing can cause themselves to vomit, especially if the mom’s breasts are over full. When giving them formula milk, be sure to keep the hole in the nipple small to prevent from causing a stream of formula coming out.

Baby infections and viral infections:

Babies become sick so often since their immune system are not yet developed fully. When they catch germs, it causes them to become ill, therefore they vomit as their bodies try to fight these illnesses.  Babies catch stomach flues like adults too. But since they’re still very young, they could become extremely sick from having it. Vomiting will become common if they have this.

Just keep in mind this is the most common reason for a baby to throw up.  Also, this is usually followed by fussiness and a fever.

If you’re ever unsure on the cause of your baby’s vomiting, you should go visit her doctor quickly.  You never know what the cause may be, so it’s best you have a professional diagnose her than trying to do it yourself.
