Ah, so you’re pregnant, and soon to be a mom! This time may be be both exciting, and a little stressful for you. We love to know what is going on at every point during the pregnancy, and we are eager to learn how to prepare before our baby comes home with us. There are a lot of steps to take, so to make it easier, make sure you have these few things ready, and are prepared for your little one to come.
7 Ways to Prepare for Your New Baby
1. Supplies
First of all, you’re going to want to make sure you have all the supplies your baby will need. Thankfully, that is what a baby shower is for. Although, since you may not get everything on your list, be sure to make a trip for every item. This is the fun kind of shopping that we enjoy!
2. Space
Do you have a space for your baby? If you can, clear up a room in your home, and set it up as the baby room. Get all the necessities like a crib, changing table, and a rocker.
3. Actions
It is always a good idea to take some classes or to read a book on how to take care of your new baby beforehand. If you’re a first time mother, taking these actions can be very beneficial, and extremely helpful. Learn everything you can about feeding, taking your baby for rides in the car, playing, changing diapers, and setting your little one down for a nap. We can learn a lot from classes and books so take advantage!
4. Money
It is always a good idea to set some money aside if you can. If you’re in the early stages of pregnancy, get in your last time at work and try to set that money aside for baby expenses. We all know that babies aren’t cheap, but we didn’t know they’d be this expensive either!
5. Name
Now, the thing you and your significant other have probably debating about, your child’s name. There are thousands of names out there, sit down together, go through a baby name book, and pick out the ones you like.
6. Last minute things
Since a new baby can be very time consuming, and exhausting (to say the least), make sure you get the last minute things you’ve wanted to get done – done. From scheduling a dentist appointment, to setting up their nursery, or even taking a last vacation with your spouse alone. This is the time to do it – a time before the baby arrives!
7. The big day
Get ready for the big day! We all have an idea when our baby will be due, so lets get ready for that day. Stay close to the hospital, and preferably stay home. You don’t want your water to break while you’re out shopping and running errands.
These 9 months it takes to prepare for a baby will be some of the most emotional, exciting, and overwhelming months of your life. Although, once they’re done, all your hard work has paid off, and you now have a new addition to that family. Be sure to take plenty of pictures, and to be as prepared as possible!
