Just because you’re spotting doesn’t mean anything is wrong or anything bad is about to happen.  It is known that about 20-30% of women spot somewhat during their first trimester, it is the second and third that you have to worry more about.  Although, spotting in the first trimester can mean:

Reasons for Spotting During Early Pregnancy:

  • It can be implantation bleeding which can occur anywhere from 6-12 days.  Every women will experience this differently and will range from light spotting for an hour or two or up to a couple days.
  • You may be bleeding after having intercourse.  This can be from the cervix being tender and sensitive.
  • You also may have some type of infection whether it be a urinary infection or an infection in the pelvic cavity.
  • Or it may be possible that you were doing too heavy of activity to where you hurt yourself.

It is important that you always keep track of these things.  If you experience any bleeding whatsoever, you will want to make sure you avoid all usage of tampons and that you put down a pantie liner to make sure you’re able to tell how much you’re bleeding and when you’re bleeding.  Also, be sure to talk with your OB/GYN so he/she can do an exam and talk it over with you.  This isn’t something you want to brush off and ignore.  Any questions or symptoms you may be experiencing that don’t seem normal are something you should bring up to your OB/GYN.  Always go with your gut instinct!
