It is very common that a baby will have acne when they’re born. All the stuff they’re exposed to may cause these little whiteheads they have. Although, most parents will notice that their baby has acne a few weeks after birth. Who knew someone so young could get these little pests. What causes acne on a baby so young? There are a few different answers!
No perfect answers – First of all, it is important to know that there is no one, single answer. Just like the teenage years, sometimes you just get it. Same goes for a baby, so don’t think you’re doing anything out of the ordinary to cause it.
Hormones – Some studies show that it can be the hormone levels. The last hormones from the babies mother may be a reason for acne.
Medications – Also, do you breastfeed your child? They may be getting acne through the breast milk. Certain things in it may trigger pimples, and a big one is medication. Do you breastfeed your child when you’re on medication?
Spit - Babies tend to spit up a lot. All of this spit and saliva getting all over their face can also cause acne. Think about it, all the germs in saliva are now soaking into your babies pores.
Detergent – Some babies are sensitive to certain laundry detergents. If a laundry detergent is really strong, it may be hard on your little ones skin. Try to find a good one, one that doesn’t bother your baby, and then stick to that.
Seeing acne on a baby is kind of shocking if you don’t expect it. We have this vision that babies have this perfectly soft, smooth skin, and that’s not always the case. If your baby has acne, talk to your doctor about it, and consider a few of these ideas for the cause of it!
