When we’re pregnant we already have to make some lifestyle changes. Whether we need to give up that extra cup of coffee, slow down on the running or perhaps give up drinking with the ladies, it’s tough. Vacations are great, but when we’re pregnant they are also trickier. We worry about flying and all the risks that may come with it. So, to answer your question, is flying safe? Continue reading below to find out.
1st Trimester: You can fly during this time as long as it is approved by your OB/GYN. The only concern we have for you here is that it may make your pregnancy symptoms worse. If you’re already feeling nauseous or you’ve got bad headaches, this may make you feel worse.
2nd Trimester: Once again, if it is approved by your OB/GYN, you’re good to go. Most of your symptoms are gone and you’re feeling better than ever. Just make sure that you keep hydrated, you don’t take too long of a flight so that you can keep your circulation going and that you wear comfortable and loose clothing.
3rd Trimester: When never know when we’re going to go into labor so this is tricky. If you’re 36 weeks + don’t risk it. It should be avoided all the way until then and around 32 weeks + really. Babies come at all different times and the stress of this may create complications. You can still go in the beginning of the 3rd trimester, just make sure that you talk to your OB/GYN about it first!
Always make sure you’re making a safe decision. Your baby comes first during your pregnancy. You’re the only one taking care of them so make wise decisions! Get enough rest, don’t do too much traveling and be sure to wear your seat belt while flying! Safety and good decisions always come first.
