Sleeping Chart for Babies

Are you having a hard time trying to train your little one to go to sleep?  If so, that is very common among parents.  What parents don’t realize is what will work, what won’t and what age groups are the best to start training.  Listed below is a chart of where your baby may be on a sleeping routine.

How old is your baby?

0-2.5 Months Your baby cannot yet distinguish night and day. Training is close to impossible at this age.
3-4 Months Your baby will begin a sleeping cycle at this age.
4.5-5.5 Months Sleep training will still be difficult because now they are gaining a little more energy than when they first came home.
6-8 Months Your baby has even more energy and is starting to play. Sleeping is usually later at night.
9-11 Months They most likely know their routine somewhat. They know when they get a bottle a nap is close, etc.
12-16 Months Your baby is starting to take interest in talking. They have more energy and are more clingy towards you. Training them now is a good time.
17-21 Months They are starting to gain more energy and their sleep patterns may become a little different.

Understanding what level your child is at makes things much easier.  If you’d like some baby sleeping tips, be sure to consider a few of our ideas!  Also, if you didn’t know already reading them a baby book or getting them a baby mobile above their crib will really soothe them at night and help them relax.  The sooner we can get them to sleep, the longer they will be sleeping for and the less fussy they will be the next day!
