When it comes to your child’s safety, you should do everything you can as a parent to enhance it. Between always supervising your child, and making everyday drives in the car safe, you’re goal of protecting your child can be fulfilled.
Car seats in the U.S. are mandatory, and are even the law. Although we’ve heard of celebrities driving around with their children in their lap, this is against the law, can result in endangering your child, fines, points on your record and maybe even jail time. Why risk all the negative possibilities and take the chance of endangering your child?
Just always make the right decision, and make sure they’re safe in the car by supplying a suitable car seat. Also, take a look at your state’s car seat laws to make sure you are following your state’s laws as well.
Texas Car Seat Laws:
- If your child is 7 years or younger, and is shorter than 57″, they must remain in a child car seat.
- If you fail to follow this law above, it may result in a fine of up to $25 for the first offense.
NOTES:
- Keep your baby rear-facing until your pediatrician gives you the OK to turn them forward-facing.
- Never buy a car seat used. It can have many dangers like being expired, recalled or previously in an accident.
- Always make sure your child fits the height and weight requirements for their seat. Once they’ve outgrown it, upgrade them as soon as possible.
- It’s always the safest scenario if you’re all wearing your seat belt regardless of where you’re sitting, and how old you are.
This is just a brief summary of Texas’ car seat laws. As always, car seat laws can change over time, so it’s your responsibility to always make sure you’re up to date with this very important information.
