The Benefits of Breastfeeding Your Baby

While we’re pregnant the question “Should I breastfeed?”  often comes up.  It is a common question, has it’s benefits, but isn’t made for everyone.  Some people think it’s great, yet others want to stick with baby formula.  If you’re undecided, you may want to find out what the benefits are first before you knock it.  Continue reading below to see how only you can help your baby.

What’s in breast milk?

First of all, breast milk is all natural, and even though formula can come close to compare, it’s not the same thing.  There are certain disease fighting cells called antibodies in breast milk that will help protect your baby against hormones, germs, and other diseases.

  • No unnecessary supplies

You won’t have to worry about buying bottles, formula, or nipples to get your baby to drink.  Instead, you’re given just what you need to feed your growing baby.

  • Convenience factors

Breastfeeding is a huge convenience and is ready when you are.  There’s nothing worse than having a screaming baby in the middle of the night that’s impatient for his warming bottle! You don’t have to run to the store, and stir up a bottle.  Instead, you can just use breast milk to get on with your day, and your baby’s!

  • Huge money saver

We all know that formula is extremely expensive!  Breastfeeding can save you anywhere from $1,160-$3,915 per year depending on which formula you would have chosen.  Do that for each kid, and look at how much you’re spending!

  • Easier to digest

Also, breast milk is known to be easier to digest.  It takes time for babies to digest the proteins in formula because they are from cow’s milk.  When it comes to breast milk, you can’t get any more natural!  Babies are also less colicky and less gassy than formula fed babies.

  • Bonding

If you’re looking for a great way to bond with your infant, definitely consider breastfeeding!  Moms that breastfeed have a tighter relationship with their infant because you have a secure, warm and comforting connection.

  • Share the duty

A lot of moms are against breastfeeding simply because they feel like they’d be the ones doing all the work.  Let’s face it, it’s not easy waking up for every single feeding or even finding time for your baby’s every meal!  What’s great about breastfeeding is that you can breast pump your milk, store it in the freezer or the refrigerator and then have someone else feed your baby.  This will allow grandparents, friends and even your partner to feed them when you can’t find the time.

Breastfeeding is a great thing and should be considered by every mom-to-be.  As you can see, it has several benefits, and is better for your baby’s overall health.  Breast milk is amazing because it changes as your baby needs changes.  When it comes to formula feeding, you have to first find the formula that works for your baby (which isn’t always easy), then you have to change it as your baby develops!  This is another reason why with breastfeeding, you can’t go wrong!
