Things Women Wish They Knew Before Breastfeeding


When we’re about to have a baby, we often contemplate whether or not we should breastfeed our baby.  We realize how many advantages there are like saving money, giving your baby what they need naturally, etc, the list goes on.  Although, is breastfeeding for you?  There are a lot of great women that breastfeed, although some don’t want to.  Whatever you choose is fine, and it’s totally up to you!  A lot of breastfeeding moms just wish they knew ahead of time these things.

Weight - “It seems like when I was breastfeeding I was loosing weight quickly, although after I was done breastfeeding I gained it right back!”

Pain – “I wasn’t expecting the first few days to hurt as bad as it did.  Although, the pain slowly went away.”

Leaking – “I would find that my breasts would leak every now and then.  I recommend getting breast pads.  These will help soak up the fluids.”

Prepare – “I wish I would have taken a preparation class before I started the whole thing.  It will come to you eventually, but it is always better to be more prepared than not.”

Foods – “It is always a good thing to test certain foods with your baby.  Some will upset your babies stomach, while others will make them feel better and taste better.”

Size – “You might have big and full breasts while breastfeeding, but they definitely don’t last!”

There is a lot to know when it comes to breastfeeding!  Breastfeeding is a great, and natural thing.  If we’re a mother whose never done it before, we’re always looking to find more and more information so we can be informed and so we know what to expect.  These are just a few things that breastfeeding mothers wish they would have known before they started breastfeeding so they could expect it.  Hope this helps you!
