When we bring our babies home for the first time, our schedule is totally off. We don’t want them to leave our sight, we’re sleeping through the day, and awake at night. Everything is usually out of wack for a while, but that is totally normal. If you’re looking to create a good, and organized schedule for your little one, consider a few of these tips!
No expectations – First of all, you never want to expect anything perfect when in the beginning. Both of your schedules will be off, and there’s nothing you can really do about it. So for now, don’t be surprised.
Them first - We also want to put our babies first. If they’re tired and crying during the day, put them to sleep. If they wake us up in the middle of the night because they’re hungry we need to feed them. We always need to put them first. Eventually, they will learn to adjust to our schedule.
Their age – Also, you want to create a schedule that will fit their age. If they’re a newborn follow the routine for newborns. If they’re a toddler create a routine for a toddler. Their age is a huge part of how their schedule should be.
Slow changes – Also, you will notice that your baby will change slowly. Make sure you adjust to these slow changes! They will eventually need less sleep, and will create better sleeping patterns. Not to mention, their feeding schedules and what they eat will slowly change. Be sure to keep up with these slow changes.
Time of day – Allow them to know the difference between night time and day time. Make sure you’re active during the day so they’re tired at night. Once it hits night time, make sure you’re quiet, the lights are dim, and they realize that night time is for relaxing. If you make these two parts of the day completely opposite, their overall schedule will be much easier on the both of you!
Bedtime - Since babies sleep so much, make sure you put them to bed early. This will help them go to bed early in the night, and wake up the normal time for the morning.
There is a lot to think about and to consider when creating a schedule for your baby. For now, consider a few of these ideas to make sure you’re creating the perfect schedule for them. These will help you both be at ease, and will make things much easier!
