Types of Car Seat Harnesses

Once we have a baby their safety is extremely important to us.  We want them to be as safe as possible, and very safe when riding in the car with us.  Today, it is illegal to not have a car seat for your baby.  We rely on these fully to make sure they keep our child safe, and to protect them while riding in the car.

One of the most important safety features is the car seat harness.  This is what keeps them in place, strapped in, and not able to move too much.  For you to find the perfect car seat, you may want to look into what kinds of car seat harnesses there are to choose form.

  • Three point harness – This baby harness has has straps that cross over the shoulders of your little one, and fasten to a buckle near the bottom of the seat.
  • Five point harness – The five point harness is probably the most popular among parents.  It has five straps, (two at the shoulders), (two at the hips), and (one at the crotch.)
  • Overhead shield – The over the head shield features a padded shield that swings down around the child.  It keeps them safe and is similar to the harnesses found on roller coasters.
  • T-shield – The t-shield is a padded t-shaped or triangular shield that is attached to the shoulder straps. Instead of swinging over the child, it is attached to the front of the unit.
