It is only natural to want what is best for our children.  What is best is what is safest.  I get asked all the time, “what are the safest car seats for my child?”.  If you ask everyone that, you will get a different answer each time.  You may get a certain brand name thrown out there, a certain model, or you may get the answer I’m going to give you – there is no “safest” car seat.

Each car seat that is on the market is safe.  If it weren’t it wouldn’t be on the market.  Let me explain how you can find a popular, and well liked car seat that is safe.

Check reviews:  To find the best of any product, I highly recommend car seat reviews.  These are reviews given by parents who own the product.  They will tell you what they like about it, what they don’t, and whether or not they recommend it.  I find this the most helpful!

What’s the rating?:  Based on a 5 star rating, you can find out what each car seat is.  For example, if your car seat is 5/5 stars, it’s probably one of the best seats on the market.  Yet, if it’s only getting a 2/5 stars, you may want to continue looking for a good seat.  This usually means parents find it more of a hassle than a good product.

Ask around:  Ask your friends and family members who have children what they have.  They will tell you whether or not they like it, and if they recommend it for your child.

Once again, there is no safest car seat on the market.  They are all safe and have to pass the same tests to be here today.  My advice is just to get good results in all of the above!  If you do, you will find a car seat that both you and your child like, and one that keeps them safe!
