When do Babies Sleep Through the Night?

You will notice that from the day you bring your little one home from the hospital, they will be on all sorts of sleeping patterns.  You will find that they may sleep all day and wake up at night or that they make sleep for 2 hours at a time and wake up.  All babies are different and there are many different sleeping patterns a baby can have.

If you’re stressing out because your baby isn’t quite to the point of sleeping all the way through the night, don’t worry!  Like I said, all babies are different and will start at different times.  Although, I can give you some tips on how to help them and give you an idea on when they should start sleeping through the night below!

When do Babies Sleep Through the Night?

If you’re lucky, you may find that your infant will start sleeping through the night at 3 months.  Although this isn’t too common, most babies will be sleeping through the night by the age of 12 months.  But don’t worry, it is also known that 70% of babies will be sleeping through the night by 9 months!

How to help your baby sleep through the night:

If you want your little one to sleep through the night or for at least longer periods of time, consider a few of these tips:

  • Give them a warm bath to help relax them.
  • Give them their last bottle to fill up their stomach.
  • Rub your little one and massage them to calm them.
  • Rock your baby and breastfeed.
  • Let them listen to nice music while laying in the crib.
  • Dim the lights and be sure to make the house as quiet as possible.

Getting your baby to sleep through the night will take time.  Don’t get frustrated but instead find new ways to calm them and help them relax at night.  They will be sleeping through the night before you know it!
