When our little one is upset and hurting, we’re just as upset. We want to help them, make them feel better and take all their pain away. You will find that when they are teething the time is very difficult. They are crying, staying up all night and their gums are swollen and red. Although you can’t make it go away 100%, here are some ways to help them through the pain.
Tips to help babies with teething:
- I really recommend getting Orajel.
- Give them a cold washcloth with an ice cube in it so they can suck on it.
- Get them a teether, these work very well! We have a whole list of great teethers here!
- Let them bite down on their spoon once they are done. This feels good on their gums and teeth coming in.
When do babies start teething?
Babies will usually begin teething anywhere from 3 months+. Every baby is different and will receive their first tooth at a different age. Some don’t get teeth until around 9 months, while others get them just a few months after they are born. You will usually be able to tell when a tooth is about to come through simply because it will appear white under their gum.
As you can see, there are a few things you can do to help your little one during this painful time. If you find that they are up all night crying and nothing is helping, try taking them to the doctors. We hate to see our little one suffer, but their teeth will be here before we know it! Also, if you’re worried that your baby doesn’t have teeth yet, don’t worry. Like I said, every baby gets their teeth at all different ages. Not to mention, it is different teeth that come in for every baby.
